Definition:
A word that shows an action/state/condition, possession/presence, or absence of a thing or a person is called a verb.
Examples:
He is writing a letter. (action)
وہ خط لکھ رہا ہے۔(کارروائی)
Karachi is a beautiful city. ( state/condition)
کراچی ایک خوبصورت شہر ہے۔
She has a car. (Possession)
اس کے پاس کار ہے(قبضہ)۔
There is milk in the jug. (presence).
جگ میں دودھ ہے(موجودگی)۔
There wasn’t milk in the jug. (absence)
جگ میں دودھ نہیں تھا(عدم موجودگی)۔

Transitive Verb With Examples
Definition
A transitive verb is poor of the object; without an object, it doesn’t give clear and complete meaning.
Examples:
He is eating………(incomplete)
وہ کھا رہا ہے ………(نامکمل)
He is eating an apple…..(complete).
وہ ایک سیب کھا رہا ہے …..(مکمل)۔
She is drinking…………(incomplete)
وہ پی رہی ہے ………… (نامکمل)
She is drinking milk……(complete).
وہ دودھ پی رہی ہے……(مکمل)۔
Intransitive Verb With Examples
Definition:
An intransitive verb is not poor of the object; it gives clear and complete meaning without an object.
Examples:
The sun is shining.
سورج چمک رہا ہے۔
He is dying.
وہ مر رہا ہے۔
Complex Transitive verb
Definition:
The verb which is followed by an object and a complement is called a complex transitive verb / incomplete verb.
Examples:
We made him a clown.
ہم نے اسے مسخرہ بنا دیا۔
I consider her a modest girl.
میں اسے ایک معمولی لڑکی سمجھتا ہوں۔
Dynamic Verb With Examples:
Definition:
The verb in which there is an action or event or there is usually a moment of hands and legs are called a dynamic verb.
Examples:
She is writing a letter.
وہ خط لکھ رہی ہے۔
He was eating food.
وہ کھانا کھا رہا تھا۔
They were running.
وہ دوڑ رہے تھے۔
He will come tomorrow.
وہ کل آئے گا۔
We will help you.
ہم آپ کی مدد کریں گے۔
Stative verb
Definition:
The stative verb usually shows mental feelings, emotions, and also a state of a person / a thing. There is usually mental involvement rather than hands and legs movement.
The following are stative verbs.

own | posses | prefer |
realize | Recognize | seem |
Auxiliary verb
They are three kinds of auxiliary verbs:
Primary auxiliary verb/helping verb
The be forms ( is, am, are, was, were, been) and do, does, have and has are called auxiliary verb۔
Model auxiliary verb
Can, could, should. Must, ought to may, might, will, shall, would, used to, etc. Are called model auxiliary verbs.
Semi Model auxiliary verb
Need and dare are called semi-model auxiliary verbs.
Hypothesis verb
Definition:
Hypothesis verbs are usually followed by subjunctives. Here, we wish against the present facts in the present.
Formula
Sub + wish + that + sub + the past indefinite tense +
Examples:
I wish (that) he helped us.
( he doesn’t help us ).
کاش (کہ) وہ ہماری مدد کرتا۔
(وہ ہماری مدد نہیں کرتا)
I wish that you were a doctor.
(you are not a doctor)
کاش آپ ڈاکٹر ہوتے۔
(آپ ڈاکٹر نہیں ہیں)
I wish that they were wise.
( they are not wise ).
کاش وہ عقلمند ہوتے۔
(وہ عقلمند نہیں ہیں)
Past
Here, we wish against the past fact in the present.
Formula:
Sub + wish + that + sub + the past perfect tense +
Examples:
I wish (that) he had helped us.
( he didn’t help us).
کاش اس نے ہماری مدد کی ہوتی۔
(اس نے ہماری مدد نہیں کی)
I wish (that) she hadn’t deceived him.
( she deceived him ).
اش (کہ) اس نے اسے دھوکہ نہ دیا ہوتا۔
(اس نے اسے دھوکہ دیا)
I wish ( that ) you had come with us.
( you didn’t come).
کاش تم ہمارے ساتھ آتے۔
(آپ نہیں آئے)
We wish ( that ) we had gone to Karachi.
( we didn’t go to Karachi).
کاش ہم کراچی جاتے۔
ہم کراچی نہیں گئے)۔)
Emotive verb and suasive verbs
Definition:
Emotive and suasive verbs are followed by a that-clause usually with should.
Examples:
The clerk is protesting that their salaries should be increased.
کلرک سراپا احتجاج ہیں کہ ان کی تنخواہوں میں اضافہ کیا جائے۔
We are demanding that they should help us.
ہمارا مطالبہ ہے کہ وہ ہماری مدد کریں۔
Factual verb
Definition:
The factual verbs are followed by a clause.
Types
- Public verb
- Private verb
Public verb
Those verbs which introduce indirect statements are called public verb۔
Examples:
He claims that he has defeated them.
اس کا دعویٰ ہے کہ اس نے انہیں شکست دی ہے۔
She says that we will not come here.
وہ کہتی ہے کہ ہم یہاں نہیں آئیں گے۔
Ali admitted that he had been misguided.
علی نے اعتراف کیا کہ اسے گمراہ کیا گیا تھا۔
Private verb
The verb in which there is the involvement of mental feeling, state, or acts is called a public verb.
Examples:
She doubts that he has stolen her car.
اسے شک ہے کہ اس نے اس کی کار چوری کی ہے۔
He thinks that she loves him.
وہ سوچتا ہے کہ وہ اس سے پیار کرتی ہے۔
We hope that they will help us.
میں امید ہے کہ وہ ہماری مدد کریں گے۔
